Our new workforce
Manaiakalani has been mentioned in an article on Futureintech.co.nz.
"One initiative that’s addressing this problem is the Maniakalani (‘the hook from heaven’) project, which operates in 12 schools in Tamaki’s low socio-economic communities. It provides the predominantly Maori and Pasifika students with access to digital technology at school and at home via a subsidised rent-to-own scheme for netbooks, and supports more digital approaches to teaching and learning. He described how Pt England Primary School has even formed a partnership with an overseas software development company that involves students doing user testing and writing reports as part of their classroom activities."

NEXT Foundation announces support for Manaiakalani Outreach
Recently, NEXT Foundation announced that they would be investing in Manaiakalani Outreach. They produced a video which talks about Manaiakalani's work in Tamaki and elsewhere. The video features Manaiakalani Education Trust Chair Pat Snedden and Pt England School Principal Russell Burt.

Hawaii News Now also reported on the significance of the day when Manaiakalani Schools met the education leaders from Hawaii.
Pwo Navigator and Captain of the Hokulea, Nainoa Thompson, marked Manaiakalani as a leader in integrating indigenous knowledge with 21st century technology.
“Today is the day that we learn the possibilities and the opportunities, and the creativity and the innovation, when you link tradition to technology and science,” Thompson said.

2500 children welcome Pacific vessels at Pt England - Maori Television
On Wednesday as part of the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage, two waka from Hawai'i called Hōkūle'a and Hikianalia landed on Pt England beach. They were greeted by 2500 children from our Manaiakalani schools.
