Legendary canoes Hokulea and Hikianalia anchored together at Pt England Beach in New Zealand Tuesday to connect Hawaii’s education leaders with some of Aotearoa’s most innovative educators.

The delegation included Department of Education superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi, University of Hawaii president David Lassner, and representatives from Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii charter schools and the University of Hawaii College of Education

2500 children welcome Pacific vessels at Pt England - Maori Television

On Wednesday as part of the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage, two waka from Hawai'i called Hōkūle'a and Hikianalia landed on Pt England beach. They were greeted by 2500 children from our Manaiakalani schools.
